Tyrconnell Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Tyrconnell Single Malt Irish Whiskey is steeped in history. The Watts distillery dates back to 1762 and had a proud tradition of producing good whiskies. Tyrconnell was their flagship brand which was a best seller in the United States before Prohibition and is named after a very successful racehorse owned by the Watt family. This historic whiskey brand has been kept alive by Cooley Distillery and has taken the brand to its recent Gold Medal win at the 2004 International Wine & Spirits Competition...

Delicate in colour, the wonderfully vibrant nose shows a veritable forest of bracken and ferns with fresh, bright flowers peeking out. Some lemon meringue and sugared almonds round everything out nicely. The savoury palate opens up to show rosehip and orange peel, even some fresh peaches and cream, all underpinned by the firm but cushioned influence of top quality peat. The finish is long, smooth and decidedly moreish!

Ireland has produced fine whiskey for hundreds of years. In fact, the origin of the word "whiskey" is "uisce beatha" an ancient Gaelic term meaning "water of life", and the pot still distillation method used to make all single malts was perfected by the Celts. Virtually all of the single malts made in Ireland goes into Irish blends and very little is sold in pure form. In fact, until very recently, all of the Irish brands available in America were blends. Just as single malt is the aristocrat of...

Connemara, Irish Malt Whiskey
Despite the widespread use of peat in Ireland, traditionally they do not use it heavily for malting their barley. Connemara, uniquely, is made from pronouncedly smoked barley imported from Scotland. The whiskey has a grassy sweetness and strong smoky nature.

Connemara Single Malt Irish Whiskey
As the name suggest, it’s a peaty, smoky number, pale gold with a honeyed smoothness. For a taste experience, try it with strong, hard cheese or a sea salt-flavoured chocolate bar. BBC Good Food Magazine, 1 December 2008

Light gold in colour. On the nose the whiskey is intensely malty and rich. Full textured, softly oaked and lingering taste.
