Jazz Giant Max Roach's association with Candid took place at the beginning of the 60's. This was the era of the great Black Protest activity with which many musicians became closely associated. Max found a sympathetic ear in Nat Hentoff - the New York critic and writer (and just turned producer ) for Candid Records.
