On the obverse, the letters 'BERLIN' appear beneath the image in relief and, on the reverse, 'BERLIN 1939' appears overpainted by a black line, but still visible to the naked eye when held carefully in sunlight. Above this, there is what could be an eagle and swastika motif (perhaps identifiable with a UV lamp, which I have yet to do), which has been defaced in a similar manner - possibly the work of some post-war de-nazification?

(H715) A Wehrpass Grouping with a paper pass and metal pass. The group consists of the man's wehrpass which has had the front page with his photograph removed. I don't know why this was done, as there was no real significance to this page. The wehrpass is well filled out, no decorations or medals are mentioned however. With this comes his Deutsches Reich Kennkarte denazified. This is dated 1945 as well as 1950. Finally, there is a metal pass for Kiel the German Shipyard. This shows a photograph...

These were worn by the irregular units raised by the German army as auxilliaries for service in WW2, mostly on the Russian front, though some of them were captured in Normandy by the Americans. This material rarely comes to light as, in the nature of things, anyone captured wearing them was normally handed over to the Russians.
