A superb example of modern winemaking from the sunny south of France. The long, warm ripening season results in a full-bodied, robust wine, with nuances from the arid ‘garrigue’ landscape, such as liquorice and black olive, that blend seamlessly with the blackberry, mulberry and plum fruit flavours. Delicious with casseroles and stews.

I am drinking a 2006 bottle. It is a robust and generous example of Minervois. The nose is not particularly expressive, but in the mouth the wine reveals its full body and power. It has good tannic structure, yet the tannins are rounded and not too aggressive. There is alcoholic warmth too, but again it is not excessive or overwhelming.
