This is a very simple question because I don't know diddly about Endnote. Here's the situation: I am working on a book using Word for Mac 2011 on a Mac intel desktop running Lion. I have endnotes at the tail of all my chapters. What I would like to is move those endnotes into a separate document (a chapter of all the endnotes) while preserving the original reference numbers. I can't do this in Word. Can your software help?   Many thanks

I am using the Turabian template in X5 and I have cited to an electronic book. I need to use a short title in a footnote far removed from the original reference. I have some journal articles by this same author, so I need a short title for the book, but the template doesn't have a place to put a short title like it has for a regular book. Is it possible to modify the template for electronic books so that it will use a short title in the appropriate place like it does for a regular book? Thanks.

Unfortunately I am not able to add to the topic, the community is able to provide more useful information at this point.  The original information I had came primarily from my experiences on my home machines running Linux.  After ten+ years of using Linux on my home machines I have stopped using Linux and transitioned to Mac OSX.

L.S.   It might be that I'm reasonably new to Endnote, but this is just weird. I use Endnote 9.0 on a MacBook. When I use the 'connect' function to 'pubmed', all goes well. I'm able to search the database just fine. The amount of results is identical to when I search the website for the same keywords. But when retrieving the references, somehow Endnote skips every twentieth reference. Or more precisely, every last reference on a page of 20. So when 7 results are found, it retrieves 6. When 23 are...

Thanks for the additional explanation.  Unfortunately, and as you've already discovered, there is no option for building a sort order that includes "order of appearance".  But here's an idea....   The Bibliography Sort Order does allow using a "Custom" field.  So if you modify the assorted reference type templates (e.g., Journal Article, Edited Book, etc.) to include a custom field to allow assigning a number corresponding to the a to c subcodes, then you could include this...

If you are using RefMan's built-in XML export feature (File > Export), instead of an ouput style, you might not be able to do much. It might be easier to ask your CMS programmer to update the XML import feature to remove or ignore the <abbr-1>s. Or you could see if someone has made an XML output style and shared it online.   PS - I'm in RefMan 11, not sure if anything has changed for RefMan 12.
