Kenneth Cole was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1954, and quickly followed in the footsteps of his father, who owned the El Greco shoe manufacturing company. He founded the Kenneth Cole Productions fashion house in 1982, and sold 40,000 shoes in three days thanks to his innovative launch, on a fake film set two blocks from the New York Hilton Hotel. Today the Kenneth Cole fashion house also produces a range of perfumes.
