In the border it is no less valuable on account of its robust strong stems and general vigour which give it good wind and weather resistance. This selection will flower in their first season from an early sowing, and will flower mid summer to winter, eventually growing to a height of 1m (3ft). This hardy perennial can be sown from February to June at 20-24C in a good seed compost just covering the seed with compost. Keep the soil damp but not wet. Germination usually takes 10-21 days.
