Description and Reviews: Price reduced as the remaining bottle has a nicked label - only the "70" is showing on the vintage (see photo). From the excellent 1970 vintage, the Ausone is very light, with a bouquet that suggests flowers and dried fruit. Brown at the edges, this medium-bodied wine is full of oak and leather tastes.

Although the château was built in the 19th century, the site shows evidence of the roman activity, which gives the wine its name, commemorating the 4th Century poet Ausonius. Ausone's recent history begins in 1718 with the Cantenat family, who passed it on to Mlle Challon, whose husband, Edouard Dubois, is credited with Ausone's rise in the 20th century.

Description of this Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Château Ausone and its grapes are exposed at Saint-Emilion on a chalky soil. It produces fine and silky wines. 2007 has a beautiful deep blackberry colour. The nose is charming with ripe red fruits and flowers. Tannins are soft with a lot of fruits.
