The Castano family owns over 410 hectares of vineyards in the Yecla DO in south-eastern Spain. 80% of these vineyards are planted with the native Monastrell variety. Castano symbolises the best of what southern Spain has to offer: rich, warm climate wines made from grapes grown at altitude and transformed into robustly modern wines. For several generations, Bodegas Castano has been a pioneer in the region.

Intense ruby colour. Notes of raisin, honey, dried fig and plum jam dominate the bouquet. It is deliciously sweet with a rounded mouthfeel, well-balanced acidity and a persistent finish.

Description of this Yecla It is back! The 2001 vintage was so successful that we have decided to present the 2005! A new label but still the same character. The Solanera 2005 is made with a blend of 65% Mourvèdre (more than 40 y.o. vines), 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Trintorera (local Spanish vine variety mainly used for Port blends). It is matured in French oak barrels for 12 months and is normaly exclusively reserved to the States market. No need to say you'd better hurry up...

Molino Loco is made by the Castano family and is the affectionate name for the windmilll (molino) that sits on the edge of their vineyards. This particular windmill is 'loco' (crazy) as it turns on calm, still days and not windy ones!
