70cl / 59.70% - This Manager's Choice Cragganmore was distilled in 1997 and matured in single cask 2398 before bottling in 2009 at cask strength. Each bottle is individually numbered.

On tasting it, it's not hard to see what those blenders saw. Mature and well balanced, with an astonishingly fragrant aroma, the slight fruitiness on the palate is overlaid with sweet, smoky notes with hints of sandalwood.

Founded in 1869 by John Smith (son of George Smith, founder of the Glenlivet distillery) and located in the Grampian region of Scotland. This twelve year old is an elegant, sophisticated Speyside malt, with complex aromas. Amazingly fragrant with a sweetish note and a smokey maltiness to the finish.

3cl / 40.00% - Diageo's Distillers Edition range is a series of Classic Malts, specially finished in wine casks. This Cragganmore is a fine example, distilled in 1998 and finished in port pipes before bottling.

This is a delightful older Cragganmore. It has many attributes of an aged bourbon cask whisky but also maintains some youthful characteristics. It has gone down very well at all the tastings we have used it in.

A 13 year old Cragganmore distilled on the 23rd February 1998 and aged in hogsheads 1178 and 1179 before bottling on the 14th September 2011. A release of 793 numbered bottles from Signatory.

Mouth: stunning attack on fresh fruit salad and white pepper. Bold, rich, yet clean and fresh. Lots of honey, fresh fruits (melon, pear)… Some oaky notes too (tannins, pepper, vanilla, cinnamon). This one really proves that there’s life without some heavy sherry in Speyside. Long, beautifully balanced finish on pollen, and white pepper. An old ‘straight shooter’ that, once again, shows that there isn’t only sherry and/or peat in life. I like it a lot! 90 points

They say: Dave Broom declared that this "balances richness and fragrance superbly". Michael Jackson went further with "the most complex nose of any malt whisky". Imagine a still life of a vase of freshly cut wild flowers and herbs sitting on an oak table next to a dish of cooked and dried fruits drizzled with honey and chopped nuts. Welcome to Speyside.

Nose: Big whiffs of damp straw, steel wool, some damp sawdust, workshops, honeysuckle and even some green and delicately tropical fruit notes underneath everything. Furniture polish (there’s a definite hint of Mr sheen about it) and hints of fresh vanilla as well. After a while it starts to become a little grassy and mentholated, wears its age very deftly. More vanilla and homemade custard, quite creamy now but still very fresh, bananas and pears with some apricot jam in the background. Very typical...

PalateOn entry, malt, honey and marzipan. Moves quickly to smoke with a beautiful sweetness through out. A tapestry of rich, smokey flavors, perfectly in balance, woven such that there are no unsightly seams. Truly heaven sent.FinishBurnt toast, cinnamon, brown sugar and sea spray woven most intricately with wisps of smoke and gentle spices linger considerably upon the palate. Wow! Having drunk this, I know I am in the presence of greatness!

This first bottling at this age ever undertaken by the distillers, it makes a smooth companion to earlier special releases of a complex 29 year old, also from American Oak, and a spicy 17 year old.

A special edition Cragganmore bottled for Diageo's whisky fanclub - the Friends of the Classic Malts. A 14 year old bottled at the stronger than normal ABV of 47.5%.

Cragganmore is Gaelic for great rock. John Smith ordered the construction of a railroad track to the Ballindalloch railway station when he built the distillery. Just a few years later Cragganmore became the first distillery in Scotland to transport their whisky efficiently by railway.

3cl / 50.00% - This eleven year old Cragganmore was bottled by Douglas Laing for the 20cl range of their Old Malt Cask brand. These are known as the 'Advance Samples' and are designed to replicate the sample bottles the Laing brothers are sent to try when selecting the casks they may later bottle.
