Undiluted Nose: Sweet sherry and peppery - dusted fruits tones with burnt sugar/treacle aromas. Slightly oily, resinous elements also present. Palate: Sweet with fresh fruit flavours and a subtle sherry hint. Traces of white pepper and other spices with a drying, toasted oak flavour.

Extraordinary in its nose and palate, with lovely sherried notes in the aroma and a slight cinnamon apple strudel on the tongue beautiful lingering finish.

This magnificent single malt is non chill-filtered and its 46% abv perfectly delivers the seductively smooth, fruity and rich taste for which Glen Grant is renowned.

Another of these infamous royal marriage commemorative bottlings. However, unlike some, this is actually a fine dram. Old style Glen Grant characteristics are all over the place with bags of old style resinous fruits, touches of peat, rancio, wax, green fruits, hessian and engine oil. Glen Grant distillery was founded in 1840 by two brothers who were previously involved with illicit distilling (a common practice in the region). In 1861 electricity was installed, a start to the almost constant modernisation and growth of this famous distillery.

In 1973 the number of stills was increased from 4 to 6, and again in 1977 from 6 to 10. Some of the older stills were until very recently coal fired. Glen Grant is a favourite in Italy, a result of good marketing in years gone by. It is also a major part of the Chivas Regal brands. Either sherry and/or bourbon casks are used for maturing the spirit.

Filled with honeysuckle, blossom, pollen, minerals, layers of green and citrus fruits and the most elegant smokiness. A wonderfully complex, vibrant and compellingly old style whisky that just makes you wonder why modern bottlers even bother.

Glen Grant Distillery was the first of five to be built in the town of Rothes. It was built by John & James Grant, two brothers who had previously been involved in illict distilling. The Glen Grant stills are a unique shape with an almost square section between the pot and the neck. This, together with purifiers on the lyne arms, contributes, to Glen Grant's light, gentle character. James Grant, 'The Major', was only 25 when he set about achieving his vision of a single malt with a clear colour. The unique flavour and appearance was due to the purifiers and tall slender stills he designed and his decision to retain its natural colour. Nose: Richly spiced, lightly oaked and sugary. Palate: Massively spiced and richly smoked. Finish: Lightly now drier and spiced. Bottled at 50% volume.
