Domaine du Bosc, owned by the Bésinet family, is situated near the town of Béziers at the heart of winemaking in the Languedoc. It has been an important source of sound, good-value wines for The Wine Society since 1982. White grenache is relatively rare in the Languedoc. It is more widely planted further south of the Roussillon and is, of course, one of the permitted grape varieties in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It produces rich, full-flavoured wines that are perfect with food.

Deep garnet in colour with a spicy ripe nose. The palate is rich with ripe fruit character and a hint of peppery spice. The finish is well balanced and the tannins are soft and elegant.

It's a 'robust' Grenache, well if Grenache can be robust but still bright and lively with a lovely finesse.

This wine is made from 90 year old vines and produces fantastically concentrated fruit. This translates into a style of Grenache for which Turkey Flat has become famous.

Willunga 100 is in the McLaren Vale region, south of Adelaide. The wines come from a range of vineyards, including some over 50 years old, which can produce a magnificent array of aromas and flavours. The Willunga 100 Grenache has intense, dark red fruit and well-integrated cedar and toasty oak on the nose. The palate is full and slightly sweet with a long, lightly spicy finish.

The grapes are carefully balanced with sugars to maintain the very highest standards of consistency and quality. Like all grape wines, the House of Beaverdale will improve with keeping, but we firmly believe that even within a week of the wine being finished, you will be absolutely delighted with the taste.

In 2002, Henri and Daniel Brunier of historic Châteauneuf property Vieux-Télégraphe (a classic cobblestone-strewn estate on the heat-steeped Hill of Crau) thought they'd try bottling their mature-vine Grenache on its own. They were so taken by the result that they've repeated the exercise in subsequent vintages. This cheerily expresses the warm generosity of well-made Grenache: juicy, silky flavours of raspberries, sloes and damsons with hints of aromatic herbs.

The wines appearance has a deep red brilliance about it. The aromas are fragrant and flowery with a leafy mix of herbaceous, dark-red berries, cranberries plums, fresh strawberry, jam and violets. The palate is soft, alluring and bigger due to the Shiraz. The flavours are very elegant and have a dark red/earthy focus and as the wine opens the Grenache cranberry notes become quite obvious

A McLaren Vale classic from BioDynamic winery Paxton, this has great red fruits and a real earthy undertone.

The Foundry is Meerlust winemaker Chris Williams' own venture, with British (though South African based) partner, James Reid. The grenache vineyards are in the old soils of the Paardeberg, in the Swartland region, and the wine has a little Stellenbosch viognier (under 10%) for aromatic lift. It was fermented in barrels previously used for Meerlust's chardonnay, so there are no new oak flavours or aromas. The Foundry will soon have a home of its own but for now the wines are made at Meerlust.

Tramontane Grenache 2010 is made by former Scottish winemerchant Andy Cook in the beautiful French seaside town of Collioure almost on the French/Spanish border. A very deep, concentrated red with a very dark centre and edges of red-toned hues suggesting a full-bodied oak matured wine. The initial aromas are dominated with fragrant red fruits over spices and liquorice/earthy notes. As it breathes more obvious notes of loganberries, cranberry and mulberry fruits with maraschino cherry, dark chocolate and intense plum notes. There is an impressive background of fine-grain, cedary oak notes.
