    Chateau Lafon Rochet 2006

Tasting notes Chateau Lafon Rochet 4eme Grand Cru Classe 2006. Superbly situated adjacent to both Lafite Rothschild and CosDEstournel. 40% of production allocated to second wine. 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2%Petit Verdot. There is impressive weight & structure here, a deep, powerful wine with lots of black fruit and some solid tannins at the finish - very good value. Drink 2012

  • 2010 Lafon Rochet 4th Cru St. Estephe
2010 Lafon Rochet 4th Cru St. Estephe

I had some bottle variation with this blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. The 2010 from Lafon Rochet seemed slightly restrained and closed down on the three occasions I tasted it in Bordeaux. Dense black/ruby, it displays sweet tannin, excellent purity, fresh fruit and a very primary, almost grapy style with lots of fruit, but at the same time, a somewhat monolithic character. It should turn out fine, but it certainly needs a good 7-8 years of...

    Chateau Lafon Rochet ,1970

Description and Reviews: Parker 87 points. "This is a chunky, muscular, big wine.. this is a full-bodied, flavorful, admirably concentrated, burly wine with an impressive saturated dark ruby colour with a hint of amber at the edge. This leathery, tannic 1970 reveals a taste of concentrated, roasted meat and beef blood." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 1996. "The nose certainly has more vigour than the 1975 with a touch of mint and a sesame seed. Cleaner than the ‘75. Medium-bodied but balanced,...

    CHÂTEAU LAFON-ROCHET 2006 red

Description of this Saint-Estèphe The Château Lafon-Rochet is one of those great and famous Saint-Estèphe. The soil is made of deep gravels and chalk. The Cabernet Sauvignon is here at its best, the Merlot is more discreet. The colour of the 2006 vintage is deep and intense. The nose is very fruity with jammy fruit flavours and blackcurrant. The mouth is full and well-balanced. It is long-lasting on the palate and will need several years of cellaring to reveal its full potential.
