A truly delicious Claret from a great vintage. Attractive berry fruit flavours with superbly balanced ripeness, minerality and gentle earthy overtones. Supple and very well balanced.

Tipping the scales at 15% natural alcohol, its notes of crushed rock, blueberry and raspberry fruit as well as darker currants and forest floor are followed by a deep, medium to full-bodied, rich wine with relatively sweet tannin but lots of extract and a long finish. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Good Label, level high shoulder, slight damageto capsule

From the very good 1996 vintage, this super red wine is a dark plum/ruby colour and is accompanied by dusty, earthy, sweet cherry, currant, smoke and vanillin scents. It is a medium-bodied wine with moderate levels of tannin, admirable extract and a linear personality and possesses good ripeness. Drink now - 2017.

A Third Classed Growth (Troisieme Cru Classe), Chateau La Lagune has ridden the vicissitudes of fashion that have swept over the Medoc in the past 30 years. Now owned by the Frey family, La Lagune has seen a return to form, brought about by lower yields and better work in the vineyard. Brilliant ruby-red colour. Delicate, fruity bouquet. Elegant and fruity on the palate. Attractive tannin and beautiful balance, with a lovely velvety quality thanks to the Merlot. Altogether charming and very pleasant with a long, flavoursome aftertaste.
