  • 1995 Château Nenin, Pomerol
    1995 Château Nenin, Pomerol

A grape which has become immensely popular around the world in the last 20 years, initially as a purveyor of the flavours of claret in a fleshy, accessible and inexpensive form. Subsequently it has developed a following as a varietal in its own right and often finds itself the recipient of lavish winemaker attention. Most celebrated as the principal 'Right Bank' grape, underpinning most Pomerols and Saint Emilions with its sweet plum and currant fruit and fleshy, soft textures. These qualities have...

  • Chateau Nenin Pomerol 2005
    Chateau Nenin Pomerol 2005

Bottle Description Notes: Château Nenin is a large property by Pomerol standards and one which has long been a favourite of the British Royal Family. Nenin was owned by the Despujol family until 1997 when it was bought by Jean-Hubert and Michel Delon, the proprietors of Château Léoville-Las-Cases. Michel Rolland has been retained as a consultant and the wines are now cleaner and displaying more depth of fruit than before. Nenin is located just outside the village of Catusseau and consists of a...

    FUGUE DE NENIN red 2004

Description of this This wine is perfectly named: it is as sweet and soft as a fugue. The blackberry fruit, chocolate and cedar wood are present on the nose and on the palate. A prelude to the Nénin opera…

  • 1995 Château Nenin
    1995 Château Nenin

Tasting Notes: When the Delon family of Leoville Las Cases fame took over this property, great things were expected, and we have not been let down. The 75% Merlot based blend with 25% Cabernet France and the 18 months in oak, 30% of which is new, produce a wine that is firm, full and chewy with masses of concentrated fruit. In the case of this 1995 it is jammy plum fruit with a sweet cherry fruit nose and a supple character.

  • En Primeur 2012 Fugue de Nenin £100 - £150
    En Primeur 2012 Fugue de Nenin £100 - £150

Neal Martin note The Fugue de Nénin, a blend of 82% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, has a certain brightness on the nose with cassis and violet scents, almost like a Margaux. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, rather chalky tannins and a slightly abrupt, punchy finish with hints of dark chocolate on the aftertaste. Fine. Tasted April 2013.

"The 2003 from Nenin reveals a dense ruby/purple color with some lightening at the rim. Its monolithic, medium-bodied personality offers sweet cranberry, mulberry, and black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of herbs, damp earth, and spice. Given the talent behind Nenin’s winemaking, this is a surprisingly boring effort. Drink it over the next 12-15 years " 87 Points, Robert Parker (April 2006)

  • 1996 Château Nenin
    1996 Château Nenin

Since 1997, under the new regime of Jean-Hubert Delon, radical restructuring of the chateau has been taking place. Michel Rolland was hired as consultant oenologist. In August 1999, 4 hectares were purchased near the vineyards of Le Pin and Chateau Trotanoy. Nénin has come to produce wines which are much fuller and more powerful, with cleaner black fruits and chewy tannins. The 25 hectares of vineyard are located in relatively close proximity to the northeasterly outskirts of Liborne and planted...
