VegaSiciliaValbuena 2006 is the second wine from the renowned producer and is made a blend Tempranillo along with small percentages of Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, from some of the estate's younger vineyard parcels. The wine sees 5 years of ageing, but less oak ageing, 3 years in a mixture of French (60%) and American (40%) oak barrels, some half the time in oak of the first wine, Unico. Tempranillo 85%, Merlot and Malbec 15%. A beautiful, dark, glossy colour. Dense fruit, blackberry, with a sweet buttery pastry/crumble character - plenty of oak here still. A wealth of dark fruits though, a rich fleshy texture, but with firm acidity.
