Vouvray Domaine de la Pouvraie 2011 - Case of 6

A fresh and fruity medium-dry white packed with zesty flavours of ripe green apples and lemons. It finishes on a succulent, crisp note and a hint of sweetness. ABOUT THIS WINE: Vouvray, in the Touraine area of France's Loire Valley, is well known for its delicious white wines made from the Chenin Blanc grape. This well-balanced example combines wonderful ripeness with fresh acidity and a hint of sweetness. It was made from 100% Chenin Blanc at the Domaine de la Pouvraie in the village of Vernou...

  • Vouvray La Forcine 2010
    Vouvray La Forcine 2010

Tasting notes Vouvray La Forcine. Elegant Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley. Fruity citrus and ripe pear flavours, added to it's off dry character, give this wine a fruity, zippy and refreshing balance. Ideal with spicy foods, especially Japanese style fish. Chenin Blanc is one of the world's least-known and appreciated great white wine grapes. Originally from France's Loire Valley, Chenin Blanc has spread around the globe and is used for virtually all styles of white wine, from crisp and lean...

  • Vouvray 75cl
    Vouvray 75cl

Our 1966 French visit and a chance encounter and recommendation led us to the Loire and Vouvray. We visited the caves there and sampled a free bottle or so of this Chenin Blanc and left with just two; as said elsewhere, guilt still pervades of opportunity wasted but, the encounter and recommendation are still much cherished. A little thinner than the more expensive Tesco Vouvray but flavoursome, satisfying and highly quaffable; a delight for "every day" drinking. A little sweet for some, ignore...

  • Vouvray Brut NV, Domaine Champalou
    Vouvray Brut NV, Domaine Champalou

The gorgeous floral Vouvray Brut should be sampled with a gobload of wild strawberries. This cuvée was traditionally known as pétillant. The base wine for the Brut is the tendre which undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle with the residual sugar of the wine. The estate calls this "pétillant naturel". The cultivation of the mousse takes place in the troglodytic cellars where the cool ambient temperature contributes to the finesse of the bubbles and the aroma of the Chenin is allowed to...

Les Grenouilles is a lieu dit at Vernou, and this wine was made from part bought-in grapes, and part from the Carêmes' own organically farmed vines. A delicious example of the demi-sec style, they recommend a variety of food matches from canapés, to spicy dishes, and cheeses.

Vouvray, Le Peu Morier, Demi-Sec, 2008 (Domaine Vincent Carême)

Strong acidity typical of 2008 is here tempered by 14 grams of residual sugar, making this an off-dry, or 'sec tendre' style, not quite as sweet as demi-sec. Classically styled with vivid freshness, and delicious. 2011–2015.
