    Believe it or not, what is now this wonderful and hugely important nature reserve nearly became a speedway track.  The 430 hectares of sand dunes, seashore and the ever rarer salt marshes provide vital habitat for a wide range of migrating birds and resident waders.  The series of footpaths make it a fantastic place to walk whether you have an interest in the wildlife or not.  The paths are very well maintained and there are benches at regular intervals.

    With its ancient trees, large collection of native butterflies and dawn chorus to die for, Chambers Farm Wood is a wildlife paradise.  The walk begins along one of the main trails on a good track, passing the ancient Hatton Wood along the way.  Then the route takes you off the beaten track to the more remote part of the wood.  The second part of the walk is the real test of your stamina because it can be quite muddy, and a little overgrown  in summer.

    Like many of our beautiful Northamptonshire villages, it is easy to drive through Flore without realising what gems lie hidden off the main road.  The walk starts in the tranquil churchyard of All Saints.  This is a fairly flat route giving you the opportunity to walk briskly and get the heart pumping.  It goes out into the fields, along the Grand Union Canal towpath and returns to Flore through the fields via Nether Heyford.  Easy level walking.

    This good calorie-burning circuit begins in the centre of the village and after passing an attractive pond, the way climbs fairly easily over Hascombe Hill to meet a track with panoramic views.  The route will then fo llow the valley  in which Hascombe sits , before finally descending to the village where this good mu scle-toning walk ends.  Hilly  but not too demanding - some m ud in winter or after prolonge d rain.
