Pomerol is one of the smallest and most rural of the Bordeaux appellations, located on the western extremity of the St. Emilion district of France. Situated just South of the Pomerol plateau in this commanding appellation area, the Château de Valois vineyard enjoys a particularly favourable position and is divided into seven parcels. Chateau Valois/2008 - 2005

In 1886, Mrs Marie-Amelie de Nabineau, friend of the owner at that time, M. Leydet, gave the name `De Valois` to the estate. Interestingly, since that time a woman has always inherited the property. This tiny estate only covers some 7 hectares, consisting of 30 year old vines, and situated on the gravelly hill of Pomerol. In addition there are some plots from the south of Pomerol, where gravel soils are mixed with sand.

    Chateau Louvie - 2006

This Merlot-dominated red wine is ripe in style with an underlying silkiness. Bright black fruit flavours and supple tannins make for a soft, approachable claret which is well sought after (less than 1,500 cases are produced per vintage). Chateau Louvie is situated in the heart of the Saint-Emilion region and is owned by the talented winemaker Christian Vevry, who previously made his name at Pomerol’s Chateau Gazin.
