I replaced my Philips Sad Lamp which had a variable power facility and was a much larger lamp with the Lumie. The Lumie was considerably cheaper and also more readily available (Boots no longer stock the Philips) but I found that the lumie lamp requires longer exposure to get the same result. It is slightly more portable,but it would definitely benefit from a carry bag or strap as I have damaged the difuser carrying it to and from work.It is a decent cheaper lamp if you can't afford a bigger version...
