By means of clothing, make-up, hair styles, and jewellery people try to distinguish themselves of one another. But is this the real person that we see? Or do all these things give a person the possibility to hide the real me? What induces a human being to hide itself behind a mask? And to what extent are we different from one another? What do you get if you omit all the things that can be used as a mask?

The human being has always been an inspiration to Van Baast. With her paintings of naked human figures Bianca tries to draw the attention to the human psyche. By painting what she sees during her observation of people and its relations, she exposes the vulnerable side. This results in a tale full of contradictions. It tells about loneliness and togetherness, doubt and progression, violence and love, openness and hiding, fighting and consolation. The contrasts become even bigger when we look at the...

I work directly from the figure with a variety of clays but mostly stoneware. I build up the sculpture using clay slabs and modeling the clay as I go, sometimes I also use a mould of a previous piece to get the basic form. None of my work is from life casts it is all hand modeled I am interested in the craft of interpreting the figure in my own way not in copying it. My work is then either fired or cast into bronze or resin.

Roman Reisinger is a young and talented painter. After working for 12 years as a graphic designer he decided 6 years ago to dedicate his life to painting, with the most important reason: total individual and creative freedom. This freedom gives him room to consecrate his life with passion and love to painting. His treatment of the trade requires a lot of knowledge and time. Roman is inspired by the 'old masters' from the Golden Century, present painters of realism, but also by the old and new impressionism...

The colour and light of Kefalonia is inspiring and uplifting! We are based in the traditional, picturesque fishing village of Fiscardo. with it’s lively harbour where the fishermen still bring home their catch and people while away the hours over a coffee, watching the world go by. The area around Fiscardo is outstandingly beautiful where the only sound to disturb your peace may be the lapping of the water. or the hum of insects.
In a creative burst some 40 years ago I taught myself portrait head modelling and waste mould casting in ciment fondu. Six heads followed over the next 18 months, all still in the hands of the sitters. Last year I undertook a course with Luke, who bridged that 40 year gap and showed me the importance of a sound visual and technical approach to portrait modelling, which exposed the weaknesses of my youthful efforts and re-ignited my desire to explore portrait modelling, but in in a more disciplined...

By means of clothing, make-up, hair styles, and jewellery people try to distinguish themselves of one another. But is this the real person that we see? The lagoon's lonely dreamy peace, like a painting by Carpaccio, is soon unexpectedly shattered by a piece of picturesque impertinence. Was it really the need to recognise their own house (some say own wife) that made the inhabitants of Burano paint their houses in such bright colours? It is a fact that the reflections in the waters which break up with every ripple, produce unpredictable colours, which at dawn and sunset dissolve to create fairy-tale effects. Undoubtedly these attracted and inspired...

We are situated in the midst of the most dramatic and varied landscape. Within the valley we have the harsh jagged rocks of the mountains and all around the studio on steep hillsides are extensive almond and olive terraces dotted with the ruins of old casitas.
