The cross-country skiing trails are usually 'pisted' - where a machine flattens the snow and makes grooves for your skis to follow. The Niederau ski season is quite short due to a poor snow record, which can undermine the runs back to the resort and leave a limited amount of skiing. For boarders spending their ski holiday in Niederau, the nearest park and half-pipe are found in Auffach. You can buy the 'Kitzbuheler Alpen' pass for nearly 700km of runs and, as another visitor commented, ' the après-ski and general atmosphere make up for any lack of snow '.
