Johnnie Walker 150th Anniversary — £1,200.00
Caol ila 20 Year old / 150th Anniversary — £799.00
Built in 1846, Caol Ila is the largest of the eight working distilleries on the island of Islay (situated off the west coast of Scotland), with a production capacity of 3 million litres per year. In the classic Islay style, Caol Ila is made predominantly with peated malt and the resulting phenols have a big influence on the final flavour of the whisky, as does the salty coastal air that the casks ‘breathe’ during maturation. One of the most approachable Islay malts.

This is created using a five-step distillation process beginning with copper pot-stills and ending with an infusion of succulent orange essence. Light, crisp and delicious.
Bombay Sapphire Gin — £16.25
Good Lord! I wouldn't touch this stuff with yours, has a very unpleasant, dusty, coriander husk flavour to it and that's all. Totally overpowered by tonic and useless in a martini. Use it to clear the drains. Drink Plymouth if you don't want too much juniper, or Tanqueray, Beefeater 24 or Junipero if you actually like gin. Posted By: puceflume
Grey Goose Citron Vodka — £29.49
Infused with the light zest of fresh lemons, this is a brilliant variant of one of the world's best vodkas created using the same five-step small-batch technique.

Tia Maria Liqueur — £13.99
Russian Standard Original Vodka — £13.49
I don't know why you had a hangover from this, I've had a lot of it and always feel surprisingly well the next day. Very easy to drink, clean and delicious. Not quite as good as the old Green Mark though.
Naturel Organic Agave Syrup — £3.69
Maker's Mark — £21.75
I have tried two of some of the better regarded bourbons, Marker's Mark and Woodford Reserve. I have to say that Maker's Mark has the edge over Woodford Reserve for me. I find Maker's Mark more smoother and leaves a better pleasant after taste, very good indeed. Nevertheless, I wouldn't say no to either. I think it's the rye that doesn't gel with me, so maybe I prefer the wheated bourbons, hence Maker's Mark. I haven't tried W.L. Weller which is also a wheated bourbon. Posted By: Zac

Cold River Vodka — £39.99
What a find! Cold River vodka is, by far, the smoothest spirit I have ever tasted. It is worth every penny. We have done group blind tastings with friends that we consider die hard high end 'vodka snobs' and Cold River has won every time. Fantastic find.

Don Facundo Bacardi Masso emigrated to Cuba from Spain in 1830. Arriving as a wine merchant he set up as a grocer in the 1840s and was experimenting with distillation by 1852 trying to improve the quality of the local rum by trying various technical experiments in distillation and ageing. A quality alternative to Archer's - mix with orange juice for a Fuzzy Navel.
Dubonnet Red — £7.99
There's something very very subtle about the blend which makes this aperitif. I happen to like it best with gin as, I believe, does Queen Elizabeth and as did her mother. Roughly 30% gin and 70% Dubonnet seems about right. I'm happy to leave out a slice of lemon. Delicious! Posted By: Brian Anderson
Cazadores Anejo Tequila — £38.75
DO NOT serve this chilled. Tequilas are best tasted at room temperature, this is one of the only alcohols you can drink unchilled. This one is great, with a subtle taste of spices, pepper, and it's great in the cocktail Negro Ojo with milk cream, amaretto and coffee liquor. If you search an anejo tequila, this is in the top5 with Don Fulano, 1921, and Don Julio. Posted By: Cubitus

Glenturret 10 Year old — £26.99
Glenturret claims to be the oldest active distillery in Scotland, but as is often the case with extravagant PR claims, the truth is never quite so simple. What is not in question is that officially distillation has taken place in the Crieff area on the site now occupied by the Glenturret distillery since at least 1775, with some sources indicating the presence of illicit stills going back at least to 1717.

Taste: Very balanced on the palate, X.O confirms the aromas discovered by scent: dried fruit & chocolate. A lovely long after taste is enrobed in velvet, conferring the last sweet notes of cinnamon & vanilla.

The daddy of the Don Julio family - this is Real as in Madrid. Not as lively as the Don Julio 1942, but with an extra layer of super-smooth texture. Stunning vanilla, toasty oak spices and peppery agave character. I make no apologies for saying that this is the 'Real' deal.

The return of the famous DJ 1942 - even without the cool wooden box - is something to be celebrated. A phenomenal tequila, incredibly smooth and with a simply stunning texture and flavour. White pepper & white chocolate on the nose and palate - it sounds like it shouldn't work, but believe me it does. Awesome.

Germana (2 Year old) Cachaca — £20.25
If you're used to Leblon Cachaça, this is really different. It's heavier, and less smooth. Don't get me wrong, it's good, you can feel it's aged, but it's better neat on rocks, for a Caipirinha nothing beats Leblon, too bad thewhiskyexchange doesn't have any. Posted By: Cubitus

Tamdhu — £19.99
A nice, slightly peppery scotch that drinks well on ice or neat (but probably needs a touch of water when served neat). Not that great as a mixer as it tastes far too similar to cheaper scotches due to its weakish taste (read : save your money and buy cheap scotch if you want to mix it). Doesn't hit you like a 12 pound hammer either, so its one you can drink all night. Posted By: Sh0ck-wave
Knob Creek 9 Year old — £27.49
I am relatively new to bourbons -- I have more experience with scotch -- but I know what I like. This is fantastic stuff -- to me it is potent with a nice lingering burn, and opens up well for sipping with the addition of just a little filtered water. The flavor that stays on the tongue is a very rich butterscotch/caramel/honey. It reminds me quite a bit of Glenmorangie's La Santa (aged in port casks) and really stands out when compared to the regular Jim Beam line. Posted By: Paul R. Potts
Monin Blue Curacao Syrup — £5.99
Amarula Fruit Cream Liqueur — £10.49
Does Amarula curdle inside its sealed bottle? I purchased some from Duty Free at Cape Town International Airport and opened it the next day to find the cream all curdled and lumpy - not smooth as it purports to be. Anyone have any ideas on this?! Posted By: M Bruce

One of the most consistently great bourbon brands. This is a private bottling from a single barrel at nearly nineteen years old. Incidentally, Evan Williams' family was Welsh (the clue's in the name).

All-conquering lady-friendly peach liqueur credited with kickstarting the entire category since its launch in the mid-'80s.
Pertsovka (Pepper) Vodka — £11.49
A new (to us) Russian vodka flavoured with hot red peppers. Likely to put a bite into a Bloody Mary.
Pikesville Straight Rye Whiskey — £16.99
A tart, fruity nose and a full-bodied spicy palate, this is the epitome of the Maryland style of Rye and is becoming very popular in bars across the country.
Bundaberg Rum — £17.99
The Mouth is Caustic and Sharp with notes of burnt matches and new paint, aggressive and obnoxious in the belly. Listen, I love you Aussies but leave the blending to the Celts, and the Jamaicans and Canadians, when it comes to rum you have no idea. I wouldn't clean my windsceen with this stuff. That's the straight dope so quit having a sook when your favorite tipple comes under fire. Ps, Cricket is Stupid. Posted By: Tiggy
