Sought after New Zealand Chardonnay from the famous Cloudy Bay winery. A complex bouquet that ranges from figs and lemon butter to more savoury elements of fresh hay with hints of butterscotch. The palate is substantial and rounded with a toasty complexity and a lingering finish. Eminently drinkable now but it will reward those with the patience to age the wine for a further 3 or 4 years.

Lindauer Special Reserve-New Zealand Sparkling Wine-Majestic Wine£11.99
I have consumed most Champagnes upto a value of about £200 per bottle. This is an absolute dinamo of a drink. Blind taste i against anything and it will come out on top. We entertain alot and guests always comment on it being delicious and can't beleive it when I tell them its not £30 a bottle. Lindauer Special Reserve Blanc de Blancs-New Zealand Sparkling Wine-Majestic Wine£11.99
I would have to disagree with Malcolm with this one - sorry Malcolm! I may have have a duff bottle but I found this wine very thin, too acidic and lacking in fruit to balance it out. If you have to chill a white wine to a inch of its life to make it drinkable then it isnt worth buying. Get the Codorniu raventos at the same price-knocks spots of this

Emilio Moro-Ribera del Duero-Majestic£16.99
"Another stunning wine from Ribera del Duero, one of my favourite regions of Spain, which is gaining cult status and usually has prices to match. This fine example is aged in both French and American oak for 12 months and offers a beautiful nose of dark fruits, smoke and pencil shavings. The palate is a real mouthful, rich and powerful yet beautifully balanced with a silky smooth texture. At this price, it offers great value and has the potential to age, if you can bring yourself to do such a thing...

Prosecco di Conegliano Valdobbiadene Extra Dry-Italian Sparkling Wine-Majestic Wine£11.99
Yes, we all know it's pointless comparing anything to Champagne but... This delightfully light, subtly perfumed Prosecco may lack the starchy gravitas of the big French stuff there's always a bottle in our rack. Promotion, job loss; exam results of any kind; end of a great week, end of rubbish week: this benign bottle endows any occasion with a sense of well-being.

Château de l'Abbaye de St-Ferme-AC Bordeaux-Majestic Wine£6.99

Puligny Montrachet -Puligny-Montrachet-Majestic Wine£30.00
Boillot chose to harvest the 2007 vintage very early on in September to retain acidity and pure fruit flavours. Superb length and crisp acidity show that this wine will only improve with time in bottle. Drink now until 2012.

I tasted this wine at the vineyard in Feb 2009, it was bright with a fresh fruity nose, the taste was well balanced fruit and acidity with a good lengthy finish. "This is textbook Puligny from a top grower. An enticing nose of white flowers, peaches, hazelnuts, toast, minerals and lemon zest paves the way for more of the same in the mouth. The palate is reasonably fruity and medium bodied, and has a wonderful chalky and zesty finish. This is archetypal Puligny, and it’s delicious! Perfect as an aperitif or partnered with seafood. Drink it over the next 2 – 3 years."

Château de Sours Rosé-AC Bordeaux-Majestic£9.99
This Rose is a lovely drop, very easy drinking too. These days it is difficult to find a dry rose, but this delivers and is not too dry. The fruitiness is retained, so if you like a dry Rose, I recommend this as a top 10% Rose, without a doubt.

Château Prieuré-Les-Tours-AC Graves-Majestic Wine£9.99

Castillo Estables Gran Reserva-La Mancha-Majestic Wine£7.49
The wines of La Mancha follow the style of Rioja but for a fraction of the price. 100% Tempranillo with 30 months ageing in American oak barrels, a complex nose shows bramble and cherry fruit blending with vanilla, nutmeg and clove from the oak. Velvety smooth texture displaying dried red fruits and a subtle spiciness which will make it marry well with pasta and asian dishes.

Matassa means 'underwood' in Catalan, and this wine shows plenty of the garrigue herbs, spice and red berries typical of wines from this region of France. Made using Biodynamic principles from a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Mourvedre, the palate shows ripe fruit, a mineral acidity, elegant structure and silky tannins. An excellent food wine.

Quinta do Noval 2007 Douro£35.00
From the sun-drenched slopes of the Douro valley, where traditional Portuguese grapes undergo lengthy ripening to produce, in this instance, a fine and rare dry red wine. Rich and complex, Quinta do Noval's flagship wine has a classy nose of aromatic damson-like fruit garnished with Douro herbs. Immensely weighty and concentrated, yet with an elegance and liveliness to the fruit, the luscious tannins ensure great ageing potential.

Esperanza Merlot-Argentina-Majestic Wine£4.69
Deliciously clean and stunningly fruity wine, the fruit thankfully untouched by overtones of oak or old leather! Really delicious on its own or with food. Impossible not to like. Super value when on offer at £3.99 and even at £4.99 well worth the money. Bordeaux eat your heart out!

Sancerre-Sancerre-Majestic£14.99
"The first Sauvignon Blanc I've chosen is a brilliant example of a traditional Loire Valley Sancerre, with a smoky complexity alongside citrus notes. Having been lucky enough to visit the Château a while ago, I'll admit a slight bias, but the continued success of this perfectly balanced wine shows I'm not the only admirer."

Laurent-Perrier Rosé NV£45.00
A classic pink Champagne, with plenty of stylish strawberry fruit and full of vivacity and easy-drinking charm. Unlike many rosés, though, this wine has its serious side, and can grow in depth and complexity with a year or two in bottle. Unusually made by the saignée method, leaving the juice on its skins for three days to extract colour, rather than simply adding a dose of red wine to the blend.

Saintsbury Stanly Ranch Pinot Noir 2007£28.00
"A punchy nose packed full of blueberries, mulberries and raspberry fruit are complemented by more savoury notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and earth. The direct translation means 'The White Night', but literally means 'The Sleepless Night'. Rich and creamy with exotic fruit aromas, with fresh mandarin notes and nuts on the palate.

Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie-Muscadet-Majestic Wine£6.99
I bought four bottles of this wine because I had previously enjoyed a muscadet I bought from Majestic. It is the first time I have ever poured wine down the sink. It was acidic and totally lacking in body. I gave a bottle to my sister and her husband who drink wine with there meal every evening. They agreed with my assessment. I have one bottle left which I intend returning to the store. Perhaps someone can use it to cook with.

Romate Cream Sherry£6.99
As i write this I am quaffing on some Romate Cream and although i dont find myself going crazy over it I do still sit here with a nice warming sensation and a persistent length to this sweet an slightly complex wine. The almond/nut character is great, the sweet coating it leaves in your palate lovely, definitely a more positive than negative experience!

Spy Mountain Pinot Noir-Marlborough-Majestic Wine£11.49
Looked forward to this as Spy valley scored 5 stars in Decanter. Great nose and first taste, but do people like Jane MacQuitty drink the whole bottle? Basically the wine is unbalanced and by the end of the bottle (with food) it was an effort to drain the glass.

Fever-Tree Tonic-Mixers & Fizzy Drinks-Majestic Wine£3.00
Made by subtle botanical flavours with spring water and the highest quality quinine from the Fever-Tree, this is a natural tonic with a uniquely clean and refreshing taste and aroma. Perfectly balanced to enhance the flavour of the great gins and finest vodkas. Equally delicious as a soft drink.

Fine Bordeaux Six-Six Bottle Wine Gifts-Majestic Wine£358.00
"Peering into the glass, I am struck by the most awesome garnet colour of this wine. The nose is equally impressive and deliciously ripe with aromas of sweet cassis, mulberries, earth, violets, cigar box and dried herbs and tinged with a delicate whiff of dried currants and figs. In the mouth it is sensational!! Everything rolls over from the nose and onto the palate with such finesse and precision. The tannins are soft and mellow, and the finish is long and delicious. This is a mouthwateringly fresh and supremely well balanced wine displaying aromas of tropical fruits with herbaceous and capsicum notes. A crisp,...

More reviews from Ludovic Surina£8.99
"As Roy Ayers pointed out in his 1976 jazz-funk classic, 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine'. Bordeaux winemaker Bernard Magrez is no exception. He headed south to the Languedoc to create this seamless blend of almost every major French varietal. The result is a warm, comforting wine with luxurious plum and red berry fruit. It has a powerful but classy structure and a finish far longer than you'd expect at this bargain-basement price . You can taste the sunshine in every drop."

Smooth velvety tannins partner the deliciously juicy fruit, providing real balance and harmony. Drink it now or over the next 5 years."

Hansel Cahill Lane Chardonnay 2007 Russian River Valley£23.00
The Cahill Lane offering from this boutique Californian winery is more restrained than others, it has real Burgundian tension with oak, fruit and structure in perfect harmony. Obviously produced with a nod to France with a lovely purity of Chardonnay flavours which would put many première cru Puligny Montrachet's to shame. With notes of hazelnut, apricot and hot buttered toast this is a real food wine which will drink now or cellar nicely for 3-4 years.

Moulin-à-Vent 'Les Bruyères' 2006 B. de Monceny£8.99
"'Showing a nose of bitter chocolate, cherries and a wonderfully constructed palate, this Beaujolais could easily be mistaken for a Pinot Noir. It is however, a good example of a Beaujolais cru famed for its fuller style and keeness to age. At this price, I'm really impressed by its complexity and length. In the words of my assistant manager, James, 'it's Beaujolais, just a bit more grown up'.'"

Château Mouton-Rothschild 1990 Pauillac£300.00
Glowing ruby with a foxy rim. Some brunt notes on the nose with great richness – very obviously a hot vintage. Rich, rich, rich. Blackcurrant fruit gum character. Much bigger and bolder than the 2000, for instance. Already smooth, welcoming and appetising. Much more refreshing on the palate than the nose. Quite a tingle on the finish. Some very fine tannins in retreat and definite acidity'. Drink 2004-2018. 19/20, Jancis Robinson, www.jancisrobinson.com

Les Galets' Côtes du Rhône-Côtes du Rhône-Majestic Wine£5.99
This is a gorgeous, succulent Côtes du Rhône, showing superb notes of red and black berry fruit flavours and a warming hint of spiciness. The palate is full with soft, velvety tannins and a long satisfying length.

Perfect for a Party 12 x 75cl Bottles£69.08
This wine is everything you'd expect from an Aussie Shiraz, deep magenta in colour and bursting with dark red berry fruits, pepper and oak aromas. The palate gives way to blackberry, blackcurrant and plum backed up by rounded tannins and savoury oak characters. Excellent length and a genuine bargain, enjoy with red meat straight from the BBQ.

Rioja Blanco-Rioja-Majestic Wine£7.99
Well I just can't get enough of white rioja and this is the perfect example. Really fruity - loads of citrus, very crisp, very clean, but never too bitter or overly-zingy. Sauvignon blanc fans will love it (but it's much nicer than a sauvignon at this price).
