Anniversary Gifts for Wives Buying Guide
There is no doubt that anniversaries are important. They are milestones that mark the longevity of your relationship, as well as the increasing depth of your connection (hopefully). However, anniversaries often end in tears and slammed doors. Why? Well, many men claim that wives take anniversaries more seriously than they can handle. While a trip to Hawaii every year may be a bit much for a wife to expect, most wives just want a little thought on their anniversary (such as actually remembering the date). While we can teleport ourselves through your computer screen (yet) to examine exactly what your wife is expecting, we can offer you popular gift ideas that have "I care" written all offer them.
Tips
- Remember the date. This is the most important thing about an anniversary. In this modern age, chances are that you have a mobile phone or a PDA
that has a reminder system (usually found in the calendar or tasks application). Program your anniversary date in, and set it to remind you a few days before. If your device offers it, have it remind you every year. Many computers also offer a reminder function, so take advantage of it!
- Don't wait until the last second. If you come home late on the day of your anniversary and mysteriously have an item from the store around the corner, she's going to think you remembered at the last second and just picked out something randomly on your way home. Take a few days to look around and pick out something that contains more thought than a Snickers bar from the local deli (even if she really, really likes Snickers).
- Don't feel like you have to empty your bank account for an anniversary gift. While there are some women out there who really do expect diamonds and pearls every anniversary, most women understand your budget and don't mind a pair of fake diamond earrings
. Decide your budget before shopping. It's important to be generous (you should probably buy her something more expensive than you bought your dog for Christmas), but within reason.
- Sometimes couples decide not to buy each other gifts for their anniversary. This doesn't work at least half the time. If you are discussing that idea, make sure you both agree to stick to the "no gift" rule. You may want to go on a date instead, or have a picnic together. That's fine, but just know that most of the time someone gets nervous and grabs a gift last minute, and thus makes the empty-handed spouse feel guilty.
