Award Winning Toys Guide

Many parents wish that they could test out their children's toys  before they buy them, and many toy companies and independent researchers do just this!  By allocating awards to the toys that meet only the highest of standards, parents can have peace of mind in knowing that the award-winning book ,toy , or video  that they are about to purchase has been tested by parents, children, and educators to ensure its safety and amusement.   

Criteria Used to Evaluate

Awards are given to toys based on a number of specifications.  These are some of the questions used to evaluate a toy's worthiness of award.

• What is this product designed to do and how well does it do it?
• Does it invite active doing and thinking?
• Is it safe and well-designed?  Can it withstand the unexpected?
• Does it fit the developmental needs, interests, and skills of the children for whom it was designed?
• Does the product emphasise moral values in any way?  (This is asked mostly of books and videos.)
• What will the child learn from this product?
• Is the age label correct?  Will it be too challenging or too easy for this age group?
