Facial Cleansers For Men Buying Guide
Facial cleansers are just as important for men as they are for women. No one likes dealing with blemishes, rough skin, oily skin, or whatnot. Bar soap may do the trick for the body, but you'll need a good cleanser made specifically for your face if you want to keep your face looking fresh, young, and blemish-free. Make an impression on people-- in a good way. You don't want to be remembered as the guy who had tons of acne, but as the guy who looked clean and youthful. The most important thing is to find a facial cleanser that suits your skin type. Most facial cleanser clearly say on the label if they are best suited for dry skin, oily skin, acne-prone skin, normal/combo skin, ageing/mature skin, or sensitive skin. Buy according to your skin needs. You may need a separate cleanser according to the seasons. Some people have super dry skin in the winter and super oily skin in the summer. Either get a cleanser meant for all skin types, or buy a separate one for winter and a separate one for summer.
Facial Cleansers by Skin Types
- Dry and sensitive skin -- Avoid menthol, camphor, fragrances, and alcohol. Look for cleansers that have moisturising agents in them, such as aloe. Organics are always a safe bet if you can get your hands on them and don't mind spending a little more cash. They will guarantee less irritation from chemicals. If you experience flaking, try a scrub at least once a week to help slough off the dead skin. Don't forget to use a moisturiser after washing your face.
- Oily and acne-prone skin -- Choose an exfoliating BHA that is oil-free and non-comodegenic (non pore-clogging). You want something that rinses clean (i.e. no bar soap that dries and leaves a film). Medicated washes that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid are good to fight acne, but salicylic should be used on healing blemishes and the benzoyl peroxide as soon as you get a breakout.
- Maturing skin -- Washes and scrubs with AHA/BHAs and natural antioxidants will help fight off fine lines and signs of ageing.
- Normal skin -- Look for cleansers that are recommended for all skin types or specifically for normal skin.
