Game Boy Micro Buying Guide

The Game Boy Micro is a portable, hand-held computer gaming system developed by Nintendo . It is the second major redesign of the Game Boy Advance  (the first being Game Boy Advance SP ), with a smaller, sleeker design. Great for those with smaller pockets, or those who simply enjoy the compact quality of their electronics (indeed, it is minuscule. The dimensions are 50x101x17 mm and it weighs less than 3 ounces). The whole system is smaller than the screen alone on Sony's PSP . However, the D-pad and the A and B buttons are oversized, making for rather comfortable game play. Still, if you tend to break things when you get frustrated, you might want to try the Nintendo DS , PSP or the Game Boy Advance SP.

The speaker may present a problem for some users, as it lacks the overall digital quality inherent in the Micro's other features.  However, it is an excellently made technology. Its high quality backlit screen and its small "dot pitch" make for excellent resolution. It comes with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to five hours of power under maximum power usage, and eight hours under the default sound and screen brightness settings. It makes a great gift for your American, African, Australian or Asian cousins, as the games bought in any country can be used on any Game Boy Micro.

Another interesting feature of the Micro is the detachable face-plate, which not only covers and protects the screen, but also allows you to customize your Micro's look. Very cool for the fashionable gamer!
