Gifts for Mums

Mum is awesome and sometimes Mum deserves a gift, even if it's not her birthday, anniversary, Valentine's Day, or Mother's Day that applauds her awesomeness. Some Gift Ideas

Nothing is more personal than a gift that reminds us of those that matter most in life.  When life starts to get a bit rough around the edges, it's the people closest to our hearts that help smooth things out.

A family tree  will show her that you care where you come from, or simply remind her of those relatives of whom she'd rather not think.	Let her show off her family with a locket . Make sure you can find a tiny head shot, though. Yes, because seeing you everyday isn't already enough! You'll literally be the extra weight around her neck.	Frame  your family for her desk, her bedroom, or anywhere else she needs inspiration. Instead of a photo, you may also want to put a piece of writing or an original drawing inside.	Make a collage  to preserve a whole slew of memories in one place. Will it be through the years or a single trip?	Buy her a plaque  to declare that she's the best mum you know. Wouldn't it be great if they actually came in more numbers. As a joke of course!

Mum rarely takes a break. Being a mum is a full-time gig, and in many instances we tend to overlook all she does for us. Show Mum you care and appreciate all she does with these simple gift ideas. 

Mum must be on her feet a lot. Get her some comfy slippers .	Transform that old dull outfit into something new and exciting. A flash of colour always helps. Dress Mum's fashion up with a chic silk scarf .	Make her dresser drawer smell nice  and complement it with some candles .	Pamper Mum with a manicure/pedicure set . A great bonding activity for mums and daughters. You'll enjoy quality time together while making your nails look absolutely fabulous.	Maybe she wants a stylish new purse . I hope it holds keys, snacks, tissues, paper, lotion, money, gum, breath mints (you never know when you might eat some garlic!), band-aids...

When in doubt...

Get her something unique! There is nothing Mum loves more than the company of her children, so take her out to a fancy restaurant, treat her to a round of golf , or spend a weekend at the beach together. If your mother is a busy bee, send her to the spa  for a day of relaxation. If she has been begging you to go to take up tennis  and play with her, make a coupon book!

Coupons aren't just kids' gifts, as long as you do it correctly. If you're over the age of eight and you're considering a coupon booklet, you should keep a few things in mind. First, do NOT make coupons for regular household chores (taking out the trash, washing the dishes ,  folding laundry , etc.)... you should already be doing these! If you're lucky enough to be excused from those tasks, you owe Mum something MUCH better than a week of clean laundry. The best coupons are for things your Mum likes and you don't. Treating her to a film  you were going to see anyway isn't special or thoughtful, it's lazy. Mum doesn't want a coupon to tag along on a Sunday afternoon, so make sure that you give her something that she really wants. Instead, take her to that sappy chick flick  she's been talking about--even if you hate it. Your mum has made countless sacrifices for you over the years; it will really mean something when you agree to do something you don't want to just to make her happy. When you give Mum a book of coupons, you are agreeing to give her time, attention, and preference. If you want to do something special and you're willing to do it upon her request, these can really be a great idea.

Mums just want to be appreciated on their special day (and maybe a little pampered too). A gift doesn't need to be flashy or expensive to have an impact, it just needs to be thoughtful. Spend some time thinking about your Mum - her personality, her lifestyle, her taste, and her favourite things to do. Look for something special to make her daily routine easier or more fun, try to find a movie that really fits her taste, or take her to do one of those things she's always talked about doing but never had time for. We've all heard it a hundred times, but it's absolutely true - in gift giving, it's really the thought that counts.
