Holiday 2010 Toy Guide

Quick Picks

Boys and girls alike are sure to love these toys, though you may want to watch out for small parts, depending on the age of the child.

Baby's First Christmas

Depending on just how old an infant is on their first Christmas, their reaction to the holiday can vary between rolling over and drooling to serious interest in the wrapping paper and packaging of your expensive gift. That said, there are tons of presents to offer the little one for this milestone. Look for stimulating toys that are colorful or emit sound, or toys and games that will grow with the child (without presenting a choking hazard, of course).

Toys for 2-4 Year Olds

In this age group, kids will start to recognize the holiday; those closer to kindergarten will be bursting with excitement. Therefore, it's important to pick up something that's mostly fun--and a little educational.

Toys for 5-7 Year Olds

Your babies are growing up and so are their toys. This is a great age group for promoting both creative and active play, which will get their brains and bodies in gear.

Toys for 8-11 Year Olds

The days of simple puzzles and building blocks are long since past. Your kids still love toys, but the stuff they want is now an extention of themselves: a Bratz doll for the budding fashionista, a guitar for the musically inclined, and so on.

Hot Toys for Big Kids

You're never too old for Christmas. All the same, older kids toys require a lot of thought and often, a lot of money. Snap your hormonal teen or tween out of a funk with one or two spectacular gifts this season. Looking for something a little smaller? DVDs and clothes are certainly an option, just make sure you understand your son or daughter's tastes!
