Bar coolers are used for chilling bottles of wine, champagne and other drinks. Along with other barware and accessories, a cooler is an indispensable element of bars. It is essential to serve drinks chilled at a party or at a bar; hence, you cannot do away with this bar appliance.
Kinds of Bar Coolers
Bar coolers can be classified according to their size, material, construction and the drink they are specifically made for.
- Disposable styrofoam coolers are one of the traditional ways of cooling drinks but they can be used for up to two or three times.
- Wine and champagne coolers are also another classification. Wine coolers at a bar can be of various styles such as countertop wine cooler, built-in wine cooler and free-standing wine cooler. Champagne coolers or buckets (for few bottles) come in glass, stainless steel and plastic.
- Stainless steel coolers provide high chilling and can be relied on for durability too.
- Plastic coolers are made of a thick shell of plastic and are lightweight and handy.
- Thermoelectric coolers require a power source to operate.
- Size is an important factor. Choose a cooler that will accommodate the number of bottles or drinks you plan to stock.
- Cooler capacity is another criterion to consider. An average cooler has a capacity of 50 to 100 quarts. Keep in mind the humidity level and temperature of the ambience where it will be used.
- Some coolers come with light inside. However, this may raise the temperature inside the cooler.
- Depending on the space at the bar counter, select an appropriate cooler. Built-in coolers can be pushed against a wall and provide easy access. Countertop models can store many bottles that are required most frequently.
