Jugs Buying Guide
Jugs are used in one or the other form at homes as dining tableware, kitchenware or even as washroom ware. Jugs can be made from a variety of material such as plastic, brass, steel, china clay, glass, silver, but do make sure thye are lead free so that you can use the content stored in the jugs with out eing poisoned.
Common Types of Jugs
- Ceramic Jugs are most often made using special kind of material called Kaolinite clay. Their mouth is narrow when compared to the base. If they are used for storing liquids such as fruit juice or wine, these jugs will be available with lids or corks.
- Creamers or Milk jugs are small vessels used for storing milk. They are smaller in size and normally are part of a tea tray or set. They can be stoneware, earthenware, ceramic, pottery or porcelain. Some even have insulation for keeping the contents warm.
- Pitchers or Tea jugs are meant for serving or storing iced tea. They may or may not have filters or strainers inside them. They can be found as spherical pots or broad tumblers.
- Water jugs come with a handle and mouth similar to a funnel. They are available in all sizes and shapes.
Other Names for Jugs
- Ewers are jugs used for holding or storing water.
- Pitchers are jugs that have lengthy spouts. The spouts are longer than the body of the pitcher.
- Kettles are kind of jugs mainly used for boiling or heating liquids like water or tea.
