A tea set is definitely considered incomplete without a tea pot to serve the tea. In some tea pots, tea can be brewed as well as served. Tea pots are much more elegant and come in different kinds of materials.
Certain teas are brewed only in specific kinds of tea pots. For instance, dark Indian teas are best suited to metal while black teas are ideally served in stoneware. Tea pots should be glazed on the inside so that the oily residue of the tea does not accumulate. Tetsubin is a Japanese tea pot made of metal and beautifully crafted. Brown Betty is a traditional kind of tea pot originating in England in the 17th century.
size and structure of the tea pot also plays an important role. The structure consists of a jar with a spout and a lid. The spout should be perfectly balanced and angled correctly. Taller tea pots are known as fluted tea pots. The shorter ones are stout in appearance. Too tall pots may result in it tipping over while too short ones may hinder pouring. The handle should fit comfortably around the fingers of the user.
