How to Throw a Halloween Party

Although parties are thrown throughout the year, there's something different about a Halloween party. From the costumes to the tricks and treats, attending a good celebration can be a whole lot of fun; however, when you're hosting, a great deal of pressure is placed on making it great, festive, and memorable. Give your guests the time (and scare) of their lives with a Halloween party they will be talking about for days.

Choose a Theme

When it comes to choosing a theme always keep your guests in mind. If you're throwing a children's bash, the atmosphere should not be very scary: their popular television shows, or sports teams are always good choices for decorations and activities. You will be able to do something darker for teens, but remember to keep the theme entertaining. Costume parties or scary movie concepts are sure to hold their attention. For adults, nothing is off limits. You can do something vintage, ask your guests to come as character couples, or have a full out horrorfest. And remember, by choosing a theme, your guests will have an easier time picking out a disguise.

Decorations

The decor for your party will reflect the night's theme. For a general ghoulish Halloween party, carve JackBlood'>fake blood on counters and tables (as long as it's easily removed).

The Great Outdoors

For most hosts, Halloween parties are often held indoors. This means the outside of the home is often overlooked. Leave visitors in awe with a great spooky yard display. Place '''Murder Mystery''': Here's a game that isn't suitable for children. After everyone has arrived, you will inform the group of a "murder" that took place earlier. Once they are supplied with all of the information, players must attempt to reveal the killer before someone else becomes his next victim. * '''Body Part Guess''': Create disgustingly gross-looking dishes, such as intestines (cold spaghetti) or eyeballs (peeled grapes); blindfold players, and have them stick their hands in the bowl to figure out the "revolting" organ. * '''Fear Factor Trick 'O Treat''': Have a set of questions (educational or not) ready for your friends and family to answer. If the correct answer is given, a delicious treat will be rewarded. Anyone who answers incorrectly or passes up a question must eat gummy worms, sardines, a piece of liver, or whatever unpleasant foods you would like to serve. * '''Ouija Board''': This traditional board game is used to communicate with the paranormal in your house. You can find them in any toy store.
