Nappy Bag Buying Guide

Contents[Hide]

If you are expecting and have no idea where to go, or you are a dear friend buying a gift, here is all you need to know about the wonderful world of nappies and their bags.  Nappy bags are a beautiful and thoughtful gift for expecting mothers. Not only are they a very necessary piece of equipment, they also come in many colours, patterns and sizes. If you are planning to buy this as a gift, try to ask the mother which style she prefers. We obviously want our gifts to be a surprise, but we also want our new mums to be comfortable with them.

Styles

Bags now come in every shape and size. It is almost impossible to go to the store and find the "perfect" bag, and nappy bags are no exception. Not only do we have to consider form and function, there are also colours, styles and even some special compartments. These are the basic styles of nappy bags, the colour and function decision is up to you!

Messenger Nappy Bags

This over the shoulder bag is fun and functional. Messenger bags are characterized by their large flap which covers the opening and protects what is inside. A disadvantage could be that it may not be easy to use one handed.

Shoulder Nappy Bags

Shoulder bags are the most common nappy bags around. This over the shoulder bag has a zip or snap straight down the middle of the bag's opening. A disadvantage could be that if it isn't zipped, things may fall out easily.

Rucksack Nappy Bags

The rucksack is an all around good pick. It can be carried on your back and frees up both of your hands to take care of your little one. A disadvantage could be that if you can't get it off, you can't get what is inside.

Special features

Some nappy bags come with features that you may want to consider when buying.

Bottle Holders

Some bags come with built in bottle holders. Some things to consider when getting a bag are how many bottle holders there are and if they're in convenient locations.

Convertible Changing Mat

A foldable changing mat is a convenient little product. When it comes with the bag, it is fashonable and you'll never want to leave home without it.

Compartments

You want to make sure there are compartments that will fit the things in the bag. If you don't know what the compartment is for, this bag might not be the one for you.

Removable Straps

Removable straps may be convenient for some people but not for others. You want to make sure they won't accidentaly come off and spill the contents on the floor.

Wet Bags

Some bags come with washable wet bags, or compartments to store your wet bags. Make sure there is space for everything or you might stick your hand in something unpleasent.

Gift Ideas

As we said, a nappy bag is a necessity and if you are invited to a baby shower, it makes a great gift. Be sure to ask the mum-to-be's preference of style, but you can be creative wth colours.

Gift wrapping:

  • These bags are pretty just by themselves; there is no real need to do extra to dress it up. If you would like, add a bow!
  • If you want to get more for the mum-to-be but you don't want to spend too much money, think about filling the bag with nappies. Nothing is more appropriate for a new mum. They NEED nappies!
