Computer Workstations Buying Guide

Whether animator, blogger or designer, you can find a computer that has the power and speed to produce your work. Keep in mind, that the right workstation will also be an asset to your productivity as it will help improve your mobility and organization.

Types of Computer Workstations

  • Ergonomic computer workstations are mainly designed keeping the posture of the users in mind. The positions of mouse, keyboard and monitor enable the users to keep their body posture aligned and relaxed during work.  They aim at a healthy work environment designed to provide support to the lower neck, back, arms and wrist.
  • Modular computer workstations make use of mix and match components for accommodating the user’s working and spatial requirements.  They might include hutches, file drawers, shelves, writing space, monitor shelves, CPU cubbies and keyboard drawers.  They can be configured into simple or U-shaped condensed workstations which can be fit into smaller spaces.
  • Custom modular workstations make use of readymade components for accommodating the user’s work requirements and style.  They can be created from scratch enabling the users to select their design.  Hence, they’re a bit more expensive than the modular types.  They can be made using glass, metals, wood and various other materials offering a huge array of styles and appearances.
  • Computer carts are mobile units which are normally compact and affordable.  They are designed to house a CPU, keyboard, monitor and mouse.  Some even provide space for writing. They can be used when required and rolled out when not needed.
  • Armoires are used for keeping computers away from sight but in a stylish manner.  The monitor, keyboard, CPU and printer are normally kept behind the doors or armoires in a concealed manner and blending with the décor.  When required, they serve as workstations and when not required, they stay in the backdrop.  Hence, they can be easily used in homes without specific office space, blending effortlessly into living rooms, bedrooms and even kitchens.
