Paper Cards and Card Stock Buying Guide

Paper cards are available in various textures, sizes, opacity, brightness and weights. Card stock paper is a good quality, heavy weight paper with or without coating. They are available in different weights from slightly stiff to thick cardboard type consistencies. They may have one side smooth and another with texture in rich colour. They are normally created out of residual fibers of vegetables. They card stock making includes fig, mulberry leaves, tree barks, flowers, silk fibers and other novel inclusions to add interest, resilience and texture to the surface of paper. Card stock are used in creating greeting cards, postcards, scrapbooks, report covers, binding, collage, photo album pages, file covers, artwork, invitations, wedding cards and so on. 

Common Business Paper Cards Types

• Glossy paper cards have a shiny and smooth finish for printing good quality photo images.
• Regular paper cards are normal paper cards.
• Textured paper cards have certain type of imprint or pattern on paper and are perfect for an output that needs to look distinct.
• Matte paper cards do not shine but have dull finish.
• Magnetic paper as its name has magnetic properties and is ideal for promotional material printing.
• Pre-cut paper cards are available as perforated cards and clean or smooth edge paper cards.
• Pre printed paper cards have background image or picture that is pre-printed.

Choosing Paper Cards and Card Stock

• If you use inkjet printers, you can choose textured or glossy paper as the print out comes out well.
• If you use laser printers then you avoid glossy paper as the print outs can get smudged or print in miss portions. You need to choose regular and matte paper for best results.

• The print can get affected by the paper colour, weight and size of paper, ink coverage, lighting conditions and the choice of thermography or flat printing. Hence you need to select the right paper card and card stock accordingly.
