Perennial plants live for over two years (perennial comes from the Latin Per Annus, meaning roughly, "through the year"). They bloom in the spring and summer and die back every autumn and winter, only to rebloom again in the spring through their root stock (alternatively, annual plants re-emerge from their own seeding). You can buy their seeds , and watch them bloom for years in your garden , and decorate your house with their blooms in beautiful vases . Before purchasing and planting, try to figure out exactly where you want your flowers, and monitor that area to see how much sunlight reaches it during the day. This will determine whether or not certain plants will grow there. Always find out what kind of environment your plants need first, there's nothing worse than dried out shade dwellers or bent and soggy sunshine lovers.
