Squash Buying Guide

Squash is a racquet sport played by hitting a hollow rubber ball with a racquet on to a wall. The squash court is specially designed for two members to play each other. Squash has been approved by the Olympic committee for inclusion into the Olympic Games. Squash is an entertaining sport and selecting equipment and accessories for squash depends on your skill levels and proficiency.

Selecting Squash Equipment

Squash Racquets: The squash racquets can be either lightweight or heavier. Lightweight racquets which typically weigh 125 grams are used by beginners and high control players because they provide control and stability in the game. Well built professional players use squash racquets that are heavy. The racquet head should be larger for beginners as they can have a larger cover area for hitting the ball. However professional players prefer standard sizes because when the ball hits the soft spot it is accurate. The shapes of racquets can be oval, square or round, however the shape doesn’t affect the game as much as the size and weight.

Squash Balls: These hollow rubber balls are colour coded for different level of players. Blue balls are for amateurs, red, white, and yellow are for higher level expertise in the increasing order respectively. Beginners require balls with higher bounce than the experts.

Shoes for Squash: The shoes that provide high performance in a squash game should have a higher traction than normal shoes for ant-slip grip. The soles should be designed effectively to solve the purpose.

Other Accessories: Bags for a practice session, protective gear like goggles, wrist bands, arm bands, knee bands and so on prove useful for your safety.
