Tents

Going camping  can be enjoyable for everyone involved, especially if you have the right equipment. Choosing a proper tent  is essential to making your trip a success.  There are several tent models that are designed for various weather conditions and climates.

Types

Models

3-season tents : A lightweight tent designed for use in spring, summer and fall.

4-season tents : As the name suggests, these can be used for all 4 seasons. Designed to protect you from harsh winter weather, this tent is heavier in weight.

Convertible Tents : If you aren't sure which seasons you will be hiking, this model is useful. It can  be converted from a 3-season to a 4-season tent depending on your needs.

Single Wall Tents : A smaller design that is made to protect you during all 4 seasons. There is also a 3-season model that is made from lighter material.

Floorless Tents : Designed for warmer weather, this is a lightweight, minimalist model.

Capacity

Want to fit your whole family inside your tent? Some models are designed for larger capacity.

  • Mountaineering Tent : This is a heavy duty tent designed to protect you from harsh weather conditions. It provides you with a large amount of storage room for extra people or equipment.
  • Cabin Tent : This is designed just like a cabin, complete with multiple rooms and large capacity. Much like your own personal house out there in the forest.

Structure

Depending on the tent model you wish to purchase, each make can be structured differently.

Various Structures

Avian Tents : Usually designed for floor-less conditions, these are held up with 1 or 2 straight poles.

Pyramid Tents : One pole in the centre is used to hold up the tent securely.

A-Frame Tents : Two poles at either end of the tent form an "A" shape and provide more room in the centre. Modified A-Frame Tents  have a hoop holding up the tent also.

Hoop Tents : Provide roominess as they are held up with 1-3 hoops. Wedge tents  are another type of hoop model.

Dome Tents : Three or more hoops come together to form a highly durable tent.
