It is made up of many different components, working in concert to achieve its functional goal. We all know how easy it is to heft up a drill, pull the trigger, and get the job done. But what's going on behind the scenes?
Chucks
The chuck is the part of the drill responsible for holding the drill bit. Drills normally have a wide assortment of different bits that are specialized for different types of screws, nails, etc. For holding circular and noncentering chucks however are known to have poor grips on smooth, ovular bits.
Keys
Some chucks need to be affixed and released from the drill via the use of a drill key. These keys are usually multi-faceted tools able to pry off many different kinds of chucks.
