Warm Up With Colour

Changing up your colour scheme for the winter season can help you to get into the spirit of the holidays. You don't have to repaint every room to get a wintery feel--change up your accent pieces to either winter white for a modern look or use rich hues like eggplant, chocolate brown, or burgundy to create a traditional room.

Snow and Ice

This theme will consist of whites, light blues, silvers, and clear glass. It's a great way to make your home feel warm when it's blustery outside.

Glass candlesticks  are ideal substitutes for the shine and glitter of icicles.  Or try silver candlesticks  to go along with your theme.

Try a pale blue vase  (aquamarine or powder blue are also super choices) for an icy effect or silver  to make the room shine.

Try out candles  in shades of purple and cranberry or go for a white and silver theme. You don't want everything to look drab, but brighter colours should be saved for the spring.

Winter white looks great anywhere, especially on a chest of drawers . Remember to accessorize to make the room pop.

Jewel Tones

This theme utilizes golds, deep reds, purples, dark greens, and browns.

A gold runner  is an elegant dressing for your dinner table. Pair it with white and gold placemats and napkins.

Burgundy bedspreads  mean you'll never have a cold night.

A rich green lampshade  casts a welcoming glow about the room.

Dark purple is especially striking for drapes and curtains .

A chocolate brown throw  is a luxurious way to mimic the trees.

Room by Room

Looking for a systematic way to decorate your home? Try it one room at a time.

The Entrance

You'll want anyone entering your house to be greeted with some flair right away, so leave no corner untouched!

Wreath

Place this on your entry door for a welcoming effect. You can choose from evergreen and pinecones or berry wreaths.

Mistletoe

Want to take someone by surprise when they enter your flat? This is a great way to do it!

Sweets Dish

Do you have a small table in your foyer? Why not top it off with some holiday chocolate ?

Welcome Mat

A seasonal welcome mat that guests can use as they enter is sure to put them in the holiday mood.

Garland

Do you have a banister or area to hang garland from? You can also use it to create a nice arch for the entryway.

The Parlour

Make sure you are spreading a little Christmas cheer when you have mates or family in your home.

Christmas Tree

What could be more festive than letting everyone look at your beautiful tree? Don't forget to pick a theme for your ornaments --will you choose elegant golds and silvers or a cheery wonderland full of snowflakes and reindeer?

Stockings

Hang them by the chimney, or if you don't have one, anywhere with a ledge will do.

Candles

Winter candles can be decorated with glitter or snowflakes and tend to look best in white and red. Choose warm scents like evergreen ,cranberry , or gingerbread . You can also find Christmas-themed  candle holders as well.

Figurines

A dancing Santa or eight tiny reindeer figurines  can be a welcome addition to your coffee table or above your fireplace.

Window Decals

These work well for the outside and inside of your home--consider snowflakes and snowmen.

The Kitchen

Make cooking fun and enjoyable with these wonderful touches.

Dish Towels  and Oven Mitts

Make your meals a little bit cheerier by handling food with these items.

Centrepiece

Place some pretty holly or winter flowers  in the middle of your table. You can also make your own centrepiece with a wreath and holiday candles.

Mugs

Put these on display in your curio cabinet or use them to serve your guests hot chocolate .

Dishware

Holiday themed dishes and bowls? Absolutely! You can find everything from cookie jars to serving platters to silverware with a winter design.

Barware

Continue the theme with red, gold, or silver stemware. Top it off with holiday wine charms .

The Loo

You can't let the WC be neglected! Here are a few ideas for your loo.

Winter Bathmat

View a pretty winter scene when you are getting out of the shower.
