Baby Nursing and Feeding

Get ready for a fun, silly, messy, frustrating, rewarding, cherished, and all too short time in your life: nursing and feeding your newborn. From the first latch-on to the last spoonful of Gerber , ShopWiki's here to help with a few products to get you through these special new experiences with ease.

Feeding

Breast Pumps are to motherhood what birth control is to, well, not motherhood: liberating! Career mums rejoice.

  • Give your baby the nutrition of breast feeding on the go, or while your baby's with a sitter.
  • Some pumps  come with attaching baby bottles to cut down on time (and the amount of equipment you have to sterilize).
  • Check out our guide for more info.

Nursing Pads can also get you back in the office sooner, because they'll keep nursing--and the embarrassing leaks that accompany it--off your mind.

  • Choose between washable nursing pads  and disposable . Washable may be less expensive in the long run, but disposable are convenient, and always ready.
  • If you go the washable route, be sure they're completely dry before use (or risk running into yeast problems), and avoid fabric softener , which impedes absorbency.

Nursing Pillows  can make feeding time more comfortable, which may be music to your ears if you've been having difficulties.

Bottle Feeding may be better reserved for the later weeks of nursing to avoid nipple confusion. But if you're ready now, check out our Bottle Feeding guide. Meanwhile, you should know that:

  • Your nipple options are many: silicone ,latex ,elongating ,lifelike ; there's a lot out there to suit any need.
  • Bottles  themselves can help a lot with the feeding process, some angled  to help you give it to the baby more comfortably, others preventing gas  in baby's tummy later.

Good luck and remember that feeding can be a wonderful bonding experience between you and your baby. Make your experience as simple and comfortable as possible so you can enjoy it while it lasts!
