Choosing a Bar Soap
There are so many varieties and brands of bar soap out there, so there's no reason you can't find one that's great. These tips will help you find one that's best forĀ your skin type and budget.
- Budget. If you don't want to spend a lot of money on a bar of soap, then that's fine. There are many bargain priced soaps that contain the same ingredients as the more expensive stuff. It's important to find a product that works best for you. Who cares how much it costs?
- Soap Types. If you have acne-prone, dry, or oily skin, you might not want to go around experimenting with all the different types. There are creamy soaps, exfoliating soaps, glycerin soaps, etc. For those with special skin types, you might want to purchase soaps designed for your specific condition. If you have normal skin, however, you can try whichever ones you'd like.

- Dry and Sensitive Skin
- Look for the mildest formulas out there. Organics are also a great choice for you because they contain all natural ingredients.
- Emollients like Vitamin E, cocoa butter, shea butter, aloe vera, and almond or olive oil are nourishing and moisturising.
- Fragrance-free products are best, and try to avoid any products with chemical additives.
- Acne-Prone Skin
- If you suffer from acne, try to look for medicated or antibacterial soaps
to help prevent breakouts.
- Triclosan and salicylic acid are two ingredients that can help get rid of body acne.
- If you have combination skin that's sensitive, go for an antibacterial soap for sensitive skin instead of a medicated one, which can sometimes be drying.
- Oily Skin
- Glycerine soaps
will purify the skin and leave you feeling clean.
- To prevent further clogging of your pores, look for formulas that are non-comodegenic.
Soap Types
When you think of bar soap, you might just think of the standard white one. But, truth is, there are many different types of bar soaps that you can buy. The most important thing is to look at the ingredients and make sure that the soap does not contain any ingredients that you want to avoid.

Glycerin soaps can come in all different colours, shapes, and smells. These are often decorative soaps. They can strip the skin, so they are best for those with oilier skin. |
Soaps that use an animal fat tallow base, like goat's milk, are very moisturizing and nourishing for all skin types. Those with skin problems like eczema will benefit from these. |
Vegetable fats like palm, olive, and coconut oil have great moisturising properties and creamy lathers. |
Exfoliating soaps contain tiny particles that help slough away dead skin. These should not be used daily on those with more sensitive skin. |
