Types of Baseballs 

Not all baseballs are the same.  Depending on your age, your league, and your ability, different balls have different specifications designed to better suit your game. 

Official Major League Baseballs 

  • Designed for game day play for professional teams and leagues.
  • Top of the line components and construction.
  • These are designed with a wooden bat  in mind.  

Youth League Competition Baseballs 

  • The standard baseball used in most youth leagues. 
  • The construction of these balls is the same from manufacturer to manufacturer. 
  • They are designed with aluminium bats  in mind.

Practice Baseballs 

  • These balls are considerably less expensive than game day ones.
  • They have much less of a "pop."
  • Practice balls are available with both leather  and synthetic  covers with a variety of windings. 

Safety Baseballs 

  • These balls are soft and made of synthetic materials making them appropriate for young players in nursery and elementary school.
  • These are designed to protect players who are still developing the proper fielding skills.
