What to Look for in Cheerleading Shoes

  • Cheerleading shoes should be comfortable and fit you well. Make sure you buy a shoe that is your size. Don't take second hand shoes if they don't fit you right. It's better to splurge a little and be safe than to be cheap and break a few bones.
  • Support yourself. Cheerleading shoes should have tons of support to your ankles, heels, and arches.
  • Lightweight  is a must. If you're tumbling and jumping, you need to get pretty high up in the air. Heavy shoes will bring you down and are a definite no-no.
  • Weatherproof shoes  are necessary even if you don't plan on practicing in the rain or snow (sometimes outdoor games are not cancelled if it is lightly snowing or raining).
  • Get breathable shoes because you are going to sweat.
  • For tumbling and stunts, look for shoes that have finger grips  or grooves flexibility, shock absorption scalloped archways  and ankle support.
  • Look for quality and durability. Your shoes are going to take quite a beating if you do cheerleading. Look at reviews and ask your coach for recommendations to make sure you get the most durable cheer shoes you can find.
  • Your cheer squad will probably require you to have a certain colour shoe. Most cheer shoes are white, but some squads get shoes in their school colours.
