Handsel Monday Buying Guide
In Scotland and parts of northern England, the first Monday of the new year is known as Handsel Monday. A handsel is the equivalent of a Christmas box, so on this day, small presents or gifts of money are given out in a fashion similar to that of Boxing Day.
