Holiday Make-up Trends
We had greys last winter and blues last spring, but now it's time to really warm up to the holiday season's
hot hues. Sparkle and shine in shades of golds, deep reds, and plums.
Glam Golds
Gold make-up
is back and more dramatic than ever. Use gold if you are wearing warmer tones,
though rose-golds tend to suit all skin tones. Focus on one feature, such as eyes, and dust off with a light shimmer powder.
Besides being used on its own, gold eye shadows
can be mixed with other hues (like purples!) for a more dramatic look at night. For subtlety, gold cheeks
require only a tiny bit of dusting right above the cheekbones -- DON'T overdo it. Recommended brands include Chanel,
Lavshuca,
and M.A.C.
, as they have an extensive collection of golds to offer.
Sexy Scarlet
Earthy reds
are perfect for the season and tie in with the deep berry and plum hues that are also popular. Regarding lipstick,
red makes for a great power pout when paired with a light iridescent eye shadow.
If using red on the eyes or cheeks, isolate that area ONLY in red. You don't want to end up looking like a clown. Givenchy,
Clarins,
Awake,
Lunasol,
Shiseido,
and Sonia Rykiel
have nice shades available.
Pretty Plum
Burgundy,
maroon,
and purple
are all over the winter trends. Make-up coordinates the style with berry
coloured hues for everything. Plum tones
make your face look brighter and plum lipstick
gives your teeth a whiter appearance! Companies with beautiful plum palettes
include M.A.C,
NARS,
Urban Decay,
Dior,
Chanel,
Shu Uemura,
Laura Mercier,
Magie Deco,
and Lancome.
