Keeping up with trends can be tiring. Luckily, jewellery  trends tend to stick around for a bit longer than clothing trends. Granted, you could just go with classic pieces, but what fun would that be? If you want the perfect accessory for a trendy outfit, we've got you covered. Here are some of the latest jewellery trends for 2008, because you deserve to be bejewelled with style from head to toe.

The Trends

• Gold  is definitely more popular this year than silver.  Though silver isn't quite "out of style", it definitely takes a back seat this year.
• Look for 1920s influenced jewellery with irreverent and hidden meanings full of sexual puns.
• Egyptian influenced jewellery is very popular as well. These trends aren't quite authentic Egyptian, but more like a modern, highly tech-friendly style mashed up with Egyptian classics.
• Winged insects, swans, stars, scarabs (the Egyptian harbinger of luck), hearts and arrows (with a slightly gothic fairytale twist), mythical creatures, odd plant life, and exotic Eastern symbolism are all very popular jewellery themes.
• This season is about wearing less. Choose one piece and make it a loud one. Jewellery is bold this year, but so bold that you shouldn't wear more than one piece at a time!
• Chunky and crowded is what it's all about. Look for pieces that are bold, chunky, oversized, and crowded with charms and whatnot.

Chunky Cocktail Rings  Look for oversized cocktail rings in bright colours.	Cuff Bracelets  Cuffs of all types are in high demand this year.	Costume Jewellery  This trend is on fire! Look for jewellery that borders on "gaudy" but doesn't quite cross the line. Oversized pendants are popular this year.	Celestial Symbols (stars, moons, comets, etc.) Kate Moss wore a star necklace, and then it seemed like designers rushed to their drawing boards in a split second.

Gothic Fairytale Jewellery Look for jewellery that screams the unabridged stories of the brothers Grimm. Think vintage gothic and twisted love.	Crystal Jewellery  Crystals and iridescent gemstones and rocks of all types are hot, hot, hot this year!	Quirky or Abstract Shapes Geometry class comes back, but these aren't your usually circles and squares. Look for safety pins, horses, can tops, and key shapes to take over.	Cluttered Jewellery Look for jewellery that is similar to a charm bracelet in the sense that it is cluttered with a mish-mash of different symbols and gems.
