Lip Plumpers Buying Guide
Who doesn't want seductive, plump lips? Lip plumpers
have grown increasingly popular as people start to think twice about getting surgical procedures to enhance their pout. All in all, lip plumpers are great to experiment with, but don't expect super-thin lips to grow three times their size. Your lips may double in plumpness though, as many products claim to enhance your lips by twice their usual size.
Types of Lip Plumpers
- Irritation-- The less expensive lip plumpers will usually plump your lips by irritating the outer layers of your lips, causing swelling. These products can be a bit painful to apply; many products sting or tingle intensely. Most of these products work fairly well, but their effect usually only lasts for two or three hours at most. They usually come in lip gloss
-like containers, allowing for reapplication if your pout starts to shrink again.
- Moisture-Boosters-- There are plenty of products on the market that lock in moisture and plump your lips over time. The effect is usually subtle, but it's supposed to last longer by boosting collagen production.
These nifty products don't sting like the other lip plumpers, but they are usually more expensive.
Tips for Buying Lip Plumpers
- Buy a smaller bottle size. Most lip plumbers are applied with a wand.
The larger bottles usually leave about a quarter of the product trapped at the bottom where the wand cannot reach. Smaller sizes will allow you to easily use every drop of lip plumper in the bottle.
- Figure out which product is right for you. If you want something that you can apply right before a date, go with an irritation-based lip plumper. If you really want to boost your long-term collagen production (and you are fine with not seeing any immediate results), go with a collagen treatment.

- Read reviews online. Research the products before you make your purchase. Find out which products double your pout and which leave much to be desired.
